Robbie W., grade 7
Middle North
At the 7th grade Mini-Assembly, Mrs.Groh, Officer Jones, and Mr. Salto laid down the expectations, rules, and guidelines for the new 7th graders. Here's what they said:
Mrs. Groh: She said that when we are on school computers, we must be doing school work. We also should report all vandalized school equipment, such as keyboards and computer mouses. We also should tell a teacher if we accidently break school equipment, or if we see someone vandalize the school's equipment as well. We also should not share our computer passwords and we need to remember to log off the computers. In addition to this, we have to adhere to the dress code and we need to have personal hygiene (remember to put on deoderant, take showers, etc.) Finally, we need to take pride in our MyAccess prompts and our essays in class and at school; respect is also mandatory for our peers and staff.
Officer Jones: He said that when we enter school, electronic devices need to be turned off, and that following school rules is mandatory. Inappropriate cell phone use will not be tolerated, and if we do use them inappropriately, we will be punished. Officer Jones also told us that if we are convicted of a felony, we can be denied entry to any school, college, university, or institution, and that we probably will not get our choice of a job. He also told us that the school is watching our computer use; Mrs. Groh said this too. Inappropriate things in general will not be tolerated on Facebook, MySpace, etc. He told us not to share our social networking account passwords and that those sites are PUBLIC domain; anyone can see what you put on your account. Finally, bullying will not be tolerated.
Mr. Salto: Mr. Salto told us 2 things. One, we need to do our homework; Two, we should pay attention in class.
