Despite a disheartening end to the Northwestern Men's Basketball 2009-2010 season, we still have bright hopes for next year. One especially bright light is the return of Kevin Cobles. He is an excellent player who got a medical red shirt year for a foot injury. (A red shirt year is when you get an injury that will keep you out for a whole season, but if you are going to the same school again next year, you can play again.) Kevin Cobles was a senior when he was injured, but since he is attending Northwestern's graduate school, he can play one more time for the Cats. We also will have every player from the 09-10 team except senior Jeremy Nash. Michael "Juice" Thompson, Luca Mirkovic, Drew Crawford and John Shurna are all excellent players who play well when they have their energy and focus. Nrthwestern is also getting top 100 guard recruit named Delsean Cobb.
Northwestern football will also have a rebuilding for their passing, losing most wide receivers, except senior Sidney Stewart and junior Jeremey Ebert, and their all-purpose quarterback, Mike Kafka. But, their whole offensive line is back, as well as a good running back named Arby Fields. They will likely start Dan Persa, but he will compete with a freshman who was red-shirted last year, Evan Watkins. We also have two new quarterbacks coming, named Kain Colter and Trevor Siemian. Northwestern's football team will not Ohio State and Michigan, which hopefully will make our record stronger. I have high hopes for both Northwestern's basketball and football teams. They both should have great seasons. Go Cats!
