You’ve probably heard about global warming, but do you know what it actually means? It’s the increase of the Earth’s temperature, which can cause glaciers to melt, wetlands to dry up, and the sea to rise. Most people don’t realize that each individual can make a difference in global warming. What can you do to make a difference? Here are 10 ways that you can help prevent global warming.
1. Conserve water by taking shorter showers and turning the water off while brushing your teeth
2. Use the back side of used paper as scratch paper or for doodling
3. Borrow books from libraries or friends to save money and printing resources
4. Reduce gas by Carpooling with your friends to school or sports events
5. Ride a bike or walk to school to get exercise and save gas
6. When your light bulbs burn out replace them with compact fluorescent (spiral) bulbs that last ten times longer and use a quarter of the energy.
7. Turn off the lights and the T.V. when you leave the room
8. Use natural light instead of lamps. for example move your desk next to a window to use the natural light
9. Instead of staying inside all day watching T.V. and playing video games go outside and play with friends
10. And last, but not least, share these tips with your friends and family so they too can help prevent global warming
