My Access

I think the My Access program is a good and accurate measure of how well a student can write. It gives the student and overall score, a focus score, content development score, organization score, language style score, and a conventions score. The program gives you an individual score for each category, the highest score being out of six. Six is considered excellent, while one is considered “bad”. In the program, you write a rough draft and submit it. The program reads the essay and sends it back to you with in seconds with results, and a revision plan. It show all the scores, and then below it shows you ways you could revise your essay. It shows revision plans for all of the categories, specialized for what was in your writing, so you can get a perfect six.

The program helps teachers understand better how the student is doing in all categories. It shows the teacher directly how to improve the students abilities. It’s a better way to gauge the progress of students than having them write an essay for the teacher to grade. The teacher knows the student well, which is why he/she lets somethings slide. I think this program is a very good spending of the schools budget and not a waste of class time.
