Look around you. Have you noticed the sparkle of new bling, and smiling faces? Do you have any idea how many engagements, weddings, and births there have been in our building in the past year? Well the Hawthorn Herald Staff sure has noticed and, being reporters, we decided to investigate this a little further.
The list of happy people include: Mrs. Shaw, Ms. Zane, Ms. Halverson, Ms. Skowron, and Ms. Hawn, and Mrs. Hendriksen, Mrs. Serlin, Mrs. Munsell, Ms. Hornthal, and Mr. Todd! So here is what we found out after sitting down and talking to some of these people. First, we interviewed Mrs. Shaw. Her new baby boy was born on April 22nd, and his name is Veer Jariwala. She and her baby love to cuddle and play around. Ms. Zane told us that she and her fiance Rick Witt, a Mundelein police officer ,have been together for about 3 1/2 years and will have their wedding in Iowa next fall. Ms. Zane is exited and completely ready for her wedding! We spoke with Ms. Halverson, and she told us she and her fiance (who is our very own Mr. Todd!) have been together for one year and will get married in June 2009 in Winnetka, Illinois. She is very exited and can’t wait! Ms. Hornthal is also engaged. She and her fiance, Ilan, have known each other since 1996. Their wedding is set for June 30, 2009 at Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas. Ms. Hawn was married on March 8th, and her new name is Mrs. Dzhurov. For those of you who remember Mrs. Munsell as your 7th grade math teacher, she had a baby girl, Leah Jane, in October 2007. Mrs. Henriksen (formerly Miss Lowy) was married last summer, on August 4th. Mrs. Serlin had a baby boy on March 26, 2008. His name is Harrison Levi, and his mom loves being at home with him. She plans to return to HMN next fall to continue teaching 6th grade. Our final inteview was with Ms. Skowron. Her husband is Jon Lasch and they were together 11 years before they got married! Their wedding was on February 2, 2008 in Puerto Morelos, Mexico! She says that adjusting to married life has been great! She will officially change her name next year, so when you return in August she will be Mrs. Lasch!
