Well, every February candy, cards, flowers, and gifts are traded throughout the world, because of St. Valentine. Today, the saint is a mystery and we don’t no who is saint Valentine. We also question about why do we really celebrate Valentines Day. Well, we know Valentine’s Day surrounds the Christian and ancient Roman tradition and that the Catholic Church uses the saints, Valentine and Valentinus. But, we still don’t know the real reason behind the saint. There’s many myths and legends that contain of saint Valentine. One story says, Valentine was killed by Emperor Cladius II, because Valentine organized secret marriages among the town. Another story states that Valentine actually sent the first “valentine” card. Valentine wrote to a girl who he adored and signed “From Your Valentine”. This signature is often used today on valentine cards. There are also legends on why Valentine Day is celebrated and some says that Valentine’s Day started to honor the anniversary of Valentine’s death. Others state that the Romans started Valentine’s Day to celebrate the coming of spring and the god of agriculture. Today, some things have changed, but some haven’t in the celebration of Valentine’s Day. We hand out cards and letters to each an other in honor of saint Valentine, as well as people who lived in the A.D.’s
