Mr. Fox, Mr. Fox, What Season Is It?

By Kristen Guglielmi, Grade 7

Spring has finally arrived ... or has it? Last week the weather was soaring into the eighties, and the sun rose before seven o’clock and it didn’t start to fade until after seven o’clock in the evening. Birds are chirping throughout the day, ducks are already waddling around, and tulips and daffodils are sprouting up everywhere. There was even a fox lurking around Vernon Hills, getting close enough to the houses to practically knock on the doors. All of these aspects point to the fact that it is a warm and pleasurable Spring, right? Wrong. There was snow falling from the sky with the temperature at thirty degrees. As if that’s not bad enough, the weather shot right back up to eighty-three degrees. Now don’t get me wrong, I definitely enjoy the warm weather, but sometimes it helps to know Mother Nature’s schedule for the weather for that week!
