You know the girls and guys who won’t let anyone else in their little group and won’t let anyone out of the group? You know the girls and guys who only like the other ‘popular’ girls and guys and everyone else outside the group is an alien? Those people are known as the ‘popular group’ at school, but really what we wanted to know was, what really is popular? Everyone has a different point of view of what popular means and I really wanted to know what people thought that popular meant. I think that you will be really surprised at what people said.
Popular means:
Self-centered
Everyone knows your name
Everyone likes you
Really pretty or cute
Jock
Cocky
Everything is all about them
Mean to people
Thinks that everyone likes them
Okay, so that is just the stereo- type of ‘popular’, because really, school isn’t like the movie Mean Girls, everyone knows that. But the truth is, everyone is popular to someone. Everyone has their own little group of friends whom they are popular with and who thinks they are popular. So, if that is the case, then why are people stressing over wanting to be in the ‘popular group’ and doing whatever it takes to be ‘popular’. The real truth is that popular is just a made up word that doesn’t really mean anything and that you shouldn’t stress over or worry about. There really isn’t just a group of ‘popular’ people. Everyone just needs to stop worrying about this and just have fun! This is Hawthorn, not the movie Mean Girls , people really need to remember that. Just keep on being who you are and popular will be nothing more than just a seven letter word.
