Who's Who: Edition 2

Welcome back to Who’s Who. For those of you reading this column for the first time, this article highlights different staff members in Middle School North.

In this edition, you will meet Mrs. Groh, Middle School North Principal. Many of you in Middle School North may know Mrs. Groh while some of you may not have met her before. But in this interview you will definitely learn a lot more than what you knew before. What a great and fun way to get to know the staff!

Below is an excerpt from my conversation with Mrs. Groh -

1. Q: How long have you been the principal for this school?

A: I have been the principal for this school for 3 years

2. Q: What grades and subjects did you teach before you were a principal?

A: I used to teach ESL, English, Language Arts, Reading, and Spanish. I even used to teach college.

3. Q: What do you in your role as a principal that is different than a teacher?

A: As a Principal, I am responsible for curriculum being taught in an effective way. That means I need to make sure not only are the kids being taught, but if they are understanding what they are learning.

4. Q: What education and experience did you need to become a Principal?

A: I needed a Masters Degree in Educational Administration to become a Principal.

5. Q: What do you enjoy most about being a Principal?

A: The kids. I like to talk to them, spend time with them, and I like to see that they are having fun while they are learning.

6. Q: About how many kids do you get in your office each day?

A: On an average, I’d say about three.

Q: Do you have any special talents you would like to tell us about?

A: I am actually a trilingual, or a person that speak three languages. I am very good at baking cakes and cookies.

8. Q: Have you read any interesting books lately?

A: I have read many, in fact. I have read all the Twilight books, the Vampire Diaries, The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and the Lighting Thief.

9. Q: What is currently in your CD player?

A: Hey Soul Sister by Train.

10. Q: Use two words to describe you in high school.

A: Bubbly, Active

11. Q: What is the worst advice you ever received?

A: One of my fellow classmates told me not to look up things in the dictionary and I was always curious to look up words I didn’t know in the dictionary.

12. Q: Do you have a role model? If so, who?

A: I have no specific role model. I respect people that make a attempt to help other people in this country or even in other countries.

13. Q: What is your most memorable job (excluding this one)?

A: I actually used to work at Burger King and flip burgers there.

14. Q: If you could have dinner with any 5 people,living or dead, who would they be and why?

A: Shakespeare: He is fascinating, brilliant, and I’d love to meet him.
Mother Teresa: I admire the humanity work that she did.
Edgar Allen Poe: He is my favorite author because of his outstanding vocabulary.
