PARAMORE'S ALBUM RIOT

Fueled for Ramen’s Paramore has made a new album, Riot! This album has two awesome elements that shine to show that Paramore will make big time. Their new album- combines Haley Williams’ beautiful and talented voice with her talented band members, drummer Zac Farro with bass player Jeremy Davis and on lead guitar, Josh Farro.
VIP Skits

On December 12th, a half day, high schoolers came to the school to show us skits. The group was called VIP, or Voices In Prevention. They came and gave us a few skits including some that taught important lessons.
One of their performances was one about respecting the teacher. There were four children, three of which were not paying attention. One was painting her nails, while another was "texting". To top it off, there was also one sleeping. A narrator told us their thoughts as they misbehaved. There was also a person standing by the girl who was supposed to be the teacher, telling us what she was thinking when the children were misbehaving. Finally, after the teacher had to leave class because she, "couldn't take it anymore" the children all realized that what they did to the poor teacher was wrong. The next day they settled down and hung on to her every word.

Recently, most of the 6th graders went to outdoor ed/Camp Edwards. It was supposed to be cold but in reality it wasn't cold until the last day when Middle School South came!!!! Everything, in my opinion was fun other than the cold weather on the last day, the water, and a few of the meals. I thought it was an enjoyable trip and I hope I can do
The Sign Language Assembly

What did you think of the sign language assembly on Thursday November the 1st? I bet most of you enjoyed it. You learned useful words you could use every day. They taught us in a very good way with having the 8th graders teach most of the signs. For example how many times have you wanted to talk to one of the hard of hearing kids in your related arts classes and not know what to say? Well today you learned basic signs like please, thank you, your welcome, and hello. So now you can converse with the deaf or hard of hearing kids during class and actually know what to say. I would like to know how many kids would want to have a signing assembly on all half days to learn more signs and about deaf culture. How many of you would go to a sign language club? Would you please tell me if you would join and if you would want more signing assemblies.

What's the first thing that comes to yor head when I say Octoberfest? October? Fest? Fun? If you guessed some thing like that your correct. The 3rd anual Octoberfest was bigger than ever. There was live entertainment, a band that played a couple of songs. You got to make a pumpkin to take home with you.

At the beginning of the year, Hawthorn Middle North held an ice cream social for all the 6th graders. They had chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream, and of course an assortment of different ice cream toppings and syrups! When finished with your ice cream there was an open gym where you could play volleyball ,basketball and hang out with your friends!

As most of the school knows the Middle North Mania 2 is going to run again. This particular event is going to be on Friday October 26th from 6:30-9:00. Mrs.Ring and Mrs.Stahl added a prize for the first 150 people who turn it in.The prize is a variety of hats and you can choose anyone of the baseball related hats. At Middle North Mania they will have a game room, computer room, Open gym, DDR(dance dance revolution),S tuck on you(velcro body suits), canoe races, Baggo,and Face Painting.They also will feature a movie The Series of Unfortunate Events.

The student council will be doing the Penny Wars soon. The event was held by Diabetes Club last year, however this year student council will be giving the money to the girl who was accidentally shot. This will help pay for her medical expenses.
Don't know what it is?
Each homeroom has a jar. The event is one week long. You want YOUR homeroom to have the most "points". All pennies are positive points, so you want to drop pennies into your jar. You also want to put your nickles, dimes, quarters, dollars, ect. into other homeroom's jars. This will reduce THEIR points. Say you put a nickel in someone's homeroom jar, five points will be subtracted from their total amount of points. At the end, the winning homework could possibly win an ice cream party.
