(Sorry for this late article, but I still think this will be an interesting piece! :P )
Last month, the two Hawthorn Middle Schools hosted the Hawthorn Spirit Invitational at VHHS. It was an exciting cheer and pom competition for many area middle schools. Both South and North poms and cheer squads (and their coaches, like the ahhhhmazing Mrs. Masini, South Cheer Coach, who just happens to be this newspaper’s south sponsor) did well and should be congratulated.
Victory!

As you know the Chicago Cubs made it to the playoff games. It took a long time to get there. Everyone was very excited when they made it to the playoffs for the 2007 season. It was very depressing when the Cubs finally made it to the playoffs and lost all three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks. It was very sad when they didn't even win one game. But hopefully, they'll make it next year into the playoffs and win the World Series! It has been 99 years since they won!

In recent years athletes have been doing many stupid, and illegal, actions and they are just coming off with fines and comunity service. Look at Terry “Tank” Johnson, he had six illegal weapons in his house and he was still on probation yet he can still travels with the Bears. Johnson, was able to play on the worlds biggest game when he should have been in jail serving his time!

In the Eagles started their season off to a great start against visiting Hawthorn North. The Hawthon Eagles won the first game behind great serving and passing. In the second game the visiting North Eagles won because of South’s 5 service errors and some shanked passes. In the third game the Eagles won behind only 1 service errors and great passing.

The eighth grade girls volleyball team won their first two games in the start of the season. They won against Hawthorn North and Wauconda. The team led with great serving by Jenny Ham, Becca Feld, and Maureen Ofiara. The team had some rocky times like in the first game of the Wauconda game. The score ended up being 27-25 with a Hawthorn Win. But the team also had some very good times.

What do you know about the Cross Country Team? If you don't know much, then this article will help you gain insight to a great team. The team record was a 1st Place finish, two 2nd Place finishes, and seven 3rd Place finishes. These are not including the Hawthorn or Libertyville Invitaionals. They ran their best at the Libertyville Invitational based on overall times and 1st Place finishes.
