Northwestern Athletics Update

The Northwestern Wildcats football team had an 8-5 season, with notable losses to Syracuse, Michigan State, and Auburn in the Outback Bowl. However, the Wildcats beat the experts when they were predicted to lose by 7, but actually lost by 3. The final score was 38-35. Quarterback Mike Kafka threw around 79 passes and completed around 59 (I don't remember exactly) for 530 yards and 5 interceptions. There were also notable victories against then-No. 4 ranked Iowa, rival Illinois, a last-second win vs. Eastern Michigan, and a 42-14 win over Towson State.
The Northwestern Wildcats Mens Basketball team has had an excellent season so far, winning the Chicago Classic by beating Notre Dame. They also have won all of their non-conference games, but are 3-4 in the Big Ten. We have beaten Michigan, then-No. 6 ranked Purdue, and Illinois, but have lost to Illinois, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Ohio State. We play at Minnesota next, and then at Michigan State. Recently, NU had a excellent game against Illinois; senior Jeremey Nash had 22 points, 4 steals, and was 11 for 12 in free throw shooting. Sophmore John Shurna and freshman Drew Crawford had 17 and 15 points respectively. The rest of our Big Ten games should be fairly easy to win. We have several excellent playes, including freshman Drew Crawford, sophmore Luca Mirkovich, hailing from Belgrade, Serbia, junior Michael "Juice" Thompson, sophmore John Shurna, who had 22 points against Ohio State, senior Jeremey Nash, and senior Kevin Cobles. Cobles is currently out for the year with a foot injury, but he will get a medical red-shirt this year, which allows Cobles to play next year. So Wildcat fans, don't despair, we are hitting a low point in our season and we will come back up. GO CATS!
