Northwestern had an amazing win over the Minnesota Gophers on Sunday January 17th 2010. This was a great game to watch it was scout day at Welsh-Ryan arena, there were over 1,000 people cheering for the Cat’s. The Wildcat’s had a small lead at half time 32-31 this meant that they would have to block shots, grab rebounds and score some baskets. Northwestern didn’t do really well with this though Minnesota gained a slight lead but was overtaken by Northwestern. The Wildcat’s were back and forth till Kristin Cartright made a lay-up with less than sixteen minutes to go. Northwestern built their lead to 47-41. The Gophers showed that they were not going to give up though when they came back to put the score at 53-52. Northwestern was still in the lead till a lay-up was sunk by the Gophers. Northwestern was down by one with 2:57 to go. Minnesota kept climbing, put there lead to 60-58. Brittany Orban made a free throw and tied the game. There were lots of time-outs and missed shots till four seconds to go. Both teams were scrambling to get the ball and Northwestern got fouled.
